HONG KONG COMMISSIONER IN LONDON

1.

Mr David Ford, the Hong Kong Commissioner in London, is leaving his post in mid-December and handing over to Sir Jack Cater, the present Chief Secretary in Hong Kong. Mr Ford is going to the Royal College of Defence Studies for a year.

2. When Mr Ford's predecessor left, Mr Blaker gave him a farewell luncheon paid for by the Government Hospitality Fund. It would be much appreciated both here and in Hong Kong if Mr Atkins did the same for Mr Ford. I would suggest a lunch for about 12 persons.

3. If the LPS does wish to do this, we will make the necessary arrangements and submit a guest list.
