Has been the Treasurer of the Queen's Silver Jubilee Appeal Fund, Chairman of the Hong Kong Export Credit Insurance Advisory Board and the Hong Kong Industrial Estates Steering Group and Provisional Authority, Vice-Chairman of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, and Member of the Board of the Mass Transit Railway Corporation and a number of committees closely related to banking, securities, commerce
and industry activities.
Current Vice-Chairman of the Hong Kong Heart Foundation Limited. Treasurer of the University of Hong Kong, First Vice President of the Community Chest of Hong Kong, Member of the Exchange Fund Advisory Committee and Advisory Committee on Diversification.
The local standing of the Chairman of the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation is derived largely from the very considerable "ex-officio" prestige this position commands.
