I attach Points to Make and Essential Facts for this meeting covering:

i) Capital Punishment;

Overseas Students' Fees;

iii)

The Nationality Bill;

iv)

Vietnamese refugees;

v)

Mr Ridley's visit to Hong Kong;

vi) The MacLennan Inquiry Report.

Items (i) to (iv) were subjects raised by Senior Unofficial, Sir S Y Chung, when he met Mr Ridley on 28 July.

Sir Murray is having lunch with the Secretary of State and the PUS on 26 August. I understand the governorship of Hong Kong will be discussed then.

Sir Murray appears to have recovered well from his second hip operation. He leaves for Hong Kong on 27 August.
