Governors Powers

1. In the case of members of the Executive Council abd Legislative Council, the Governor may, upon sufficient cause, suspend the exercise of the functions of any member of the Councils, giving immediate notice to The Queen through the Secretary

of State. If the suspension is confirmed by the Queen through the Secretary of State, the Governor can by an instrument under the Public Seal of the

Colony revoke the appointment of the Member, leaving his seat on the Council vacant.

BERMUDA

(c) substitute a less severe form of

punishment for that imposed by the court

(d) remit the whole or any part of any

sentence passed by the court

2. The Governor can only exercise his powers as in 1 above after consultation with the Advisory Committee on the Prerogative of Mercy.

Governor's Powers

1. Governor is responsible for following:

(a) external affairs

(b) defence including armed forces (c) internal security

(a) the police

2. The Governor acting in his discretion may (a)designate a member of Excowith whom he

can consult on police matters

(b) delegate, with prior approval of Secreta of State to a member of Exco responsibility for matters relating to external affairs, internal security or police. Such authority would be delegated after Governor consulted Government Leader.
