I am doing some research into those Islands and territories which 9/1

are at present under the protection of or owned by Britain, but are soon likely to be granted Independence.

I understand that the Falkland Islands and the Antilles are being considered for Independence at a future date, but press reporting of this has been minimal and I am finding it difficult to gather enough material for my studies. Therefore, I should be very grateful if you could provide me with some information on these two groups of islands, and indeed any other places in a similar situation.

What I particularly want to know is..how the proposed changeover w to self-rule is expected to effect the inhabitants from an economic, social and political point of view. In other words, how do they live now? And is this likely to change after Independence?,

I appreciate that this is asking quite a lot of you, so if you know of any organisations who might be able to help me further with my enquiries Perhaps you could be so kind as to let me know where I can contact them. But i should prefer my information to come from the Foreign Office so as to avoid one-sided propaganda.
