1. I attach a reply to Hong Kong Telegram No 1149 from the Governor. News Department agree that it would be. better to have the Press Conference on the same day. They mentioned the possibility that diplomatic and other British correspondents might wish to have a separate meeting with you, possibly in the afternoon. I hope you could manage this, but I do not think we need bother Sir M MacLehose about it.

2. I attach a revised list of talking points, primarily for use at your Press Conference, but also for News Department. If you agree, I will pass it to them.
