DEPENDENT TERRITORIES APPOINTMENT

Chief Secretary, Hong Kong

2.

The Chief Clerk said that Sir P Haddon-Cave had establichet a very good record as Financial Secretary in Hong Kong since 1921 He might not always be popular with his colleagues in the TIE Treasury but there was no doubting his ability. He had als shown competence on the Administration side when he had as Chief Secretary in the past. His political sensitivity he matured in recent years. The Governor gave his support to this proposal and the intention was that the move should tal place in September 1981 to give Sir P Haddon-Cave time to set 1 in before the Governor himself left in Spring 1982. The Bogi agreed that the appointment seemed a sound one.

3.

The Board accordingly agreed to recommend that Sir P Hard n Cave should be appointed Chief Secretary in Hong Kong in succession to Sir J Cater.
