Whereas it appears to Her Majesty expedient to provide, in case agreement is reached between Her Majesty's Government in the United Kingdom and the Government of the People's Republic of China for the payment of compensa- tion by the latter Government, for the registration, investigation and determi- nation by the Foreign Compensation Commission (hereinafter referred to as "the Commission") of claims to such compensation, and for the making of reports by the Commission with respect to such claims:
Now, therefore, Her Majesty, by virtue and in exercise of the powers in that behalf vested in Her Majesty by section 3 of the Foreign Compensation Act 1950(a) as amended by section 2 of the Foreign Compensation Act 1969(b), is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:-
PART I
GENERAL
Citation and commencement
1. This Order may be cited as the Foreign Compensation (People's Republic of China) (Registration) Order 1980 and shall come into operation on 5th January 1981.
Interpretation
2. In this Order:-
"Applicant" means the person by or on whose behalf the application under Article 3 of this Order is made;
(a) 1950 c. 12.
(b) 1969 c. 20.
