BETWEEN THE GOVERNMENT OF THE

UNITED KINGDOM OF GREAT BRITAIN AND NORTHERN IRELAND AND THE GOVERNMENT OF GREECE FOR THE RECIPROCAL ABOLITION OF VISAS

Monsieur le Ministre,

I have the honour to refer to the Agreement constituted by the Exchange of Notes between the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the Greek Government of the 1st of June, 1953,(1) for the reciprocal abolition of visas for travel to the United Kingdom and Greece.

2. Acting upon instructions from Her Majesty's Principal Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, I am to state that in accordance with their policy of extending the freedom of travel, the Government of the United Kingdom now wish to propose an agreement in the following terms to replace that of the 1st of June, 1953:

(a) Subject to the provisions of sub-paragraphs (c) and (d) below, Greek nationals holding valid Greek passports shall be free to travel from any place whatever to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, The Channel Islands and the Isle of Man and to any of the territories named in the Annex to the present Note without the necessity of obtaining a visa in advance.

(b) Subject to the provisions of sub-paragraphs (c) and (d) below, British subjects and British Protected Persons holding passports bearing on the cover the inscription British Passport' at the top, and at the bottom the inscription United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland' or Jersey' or 'Guernsey and its dependencies' or the name of one of the British dependent territories listed in the Annex to this Agreement, and, inside, the description of the holder's national status as British subject' or 'British subject, citizen of the United Kingdom and Colonies', or 'British subject, citizen of the United Kingdom, Islands and Colonies', or 'British protected Person' shall be free to travel from any place whatever to Greece without the necessity of obtaining a visa in advance.

(c) The provisions of sub-paragraphs (a) and (b) above shall not exempt Greek nationals proceeding to any British territory or British subjects or British protected persons proceeding to Greece from the necessity
