1. When speaking to the Political Adviser this morning, he mentioned that the Governor has a long standing dinner engagement with the NCNA on Monday 6 October. The Governor hopes that you will be able to join them.

2. A deskby telegram is on its way reporting the little of substance that passed between Huang Hua and the Governor at Kai Tak today. However, because of the NCNA dinner on 6 October, Sir M MacLehose is anxious that no early action is taken by HM Embassy Peking on illegal immigration in case something new emerges from NCNA. The department's submission on illegal immigration will reflect this wish.
