Renunciation of Fritish subject status

Provision to enable all three classes of British subject

mentioned in paragraph 10.11 above to renounce their status should be included on the lines set out in section 19 of the 1948 Act, and section 2 of the 1964 Act.

10.7

British Sbjects in the United Kingdom or a dependency when the Act comes into force.

10.71 A person who is a British Subject under any of the three provisions mentioned in paragraph 10.11 above, and who has at any time been settled in the United Kingdom and had at that time beer. ordinarily resident there for the last 5 years, is to be entitled to be registered as a British Citizen.

10.72 Such a British Subject who is settled in the United Kingdom

when the Act comes inic force, but who has not then reen ordinarily

resident for 5 years, is to have an entitlement to be registered

as a British Citizen case he has completed 5 years ordinary residence

provided he has remained settled here for the whole of the perică

between the commenceze the new Act and the making of the application.

10.73. Provisions corresponding to those in paragraphs 10.7L and

10.72 will be required for British objects settled in a dependent

territory.
