Subject to this section, a

person shall not be guilty of an offence

under section 46 or 47 when a pregnancy

is terminated by a registered medical

practitioner if 2 registered medical

practitioners are of the opinion, formed

in good faith that

(a) the continuance of the pregnancy

would involve risk to the life

of the pregnant woman or of

injury to the physical or

mental health of the pregnant

woman, greater than if the

pregnancy were terminated; or

(b) there is a substantial risk

that if the child were born,

it would suffer from such

physical or mental abnormality

as to be seriously handicapped.";

(b) by inserting after subsection (2) the

following

"(2A) Subject to this section, a

person shall not be guilty of an offence

under sections 46 and 47 when the

pregnancy of a woman is terminated by

a registered medical practitioner
