Dear Father Raimund:

I received your kind letter from Germany, with the memorandum about the Vietnamese refugees.

On my part, with the sincere desire to help as far as we can these people in need, I can give you the following reply to your requests:

The price of the land is at present 150 US dollars a hectare. If it is a question of our property we can keep this as a fixed price.

It is very good land for agriculture but covered with virgin selva and this would entail almost the same amount in order to leave it clear for farming. There are up to 500 hectares available. The payment could easily be made in instalments over three years with no interest.

- If the situation is very urgent perhaps it would be a good idea to buy land without woodland, clear for farming, but this the present market prices for this land are between 450 and 550 US dollars and in smaller plots, still by the hectare.

-

There are also of course plots of selva-land, of 1000 or more hectares, which could be bought in thirds

I sincerely believe that somebody from the Congregation of the Divine Word could help these immigrants, but unfortunately I cannot assure you on this point, as in January 1981 precisely we have to change our administrative team in the Province and I cannot leave my successor with this commitment.

I hope very much that you have enjoyed your holiday. I too will be in Spain the months of July and August.
