Meeting with Monsieur Resseguier, Directeur aux Conventions administratives (visas), Ministere des Affaires

Etrangeres. Mr. Resseguier, according to Mrs. Taviani, is an important man in the decision making process regarding refugees. He showed great sympathy and understanding for Hong Kong. He assured us that France is willing to take refugees from Hong Kong if they satisfy the eligibility criteria already listed above. He also stated that it would be of great help if we can enlist the cooperation of the French Consul-General in Hong Kong. He assured us that he would support our request for a small contin- gent of about 50 refugees from Hong Kong per month. He was parti- cularly pleased to hear that we are able and willing to give French. lessons and country orientation courses to our refugees.
