ANNEX B

I have been asked by the relevant British authorities to acknowledge the letter which you wrote recently applying for a visa to enter the United Kingdom.
Although we have every sympathy with you in your present situation, I regret that the United Kingdom cannot, because of its own dense population, accept immigrants from other countries unless they have close relatives in Britain who are willing to support them financially, or some other close connexion with the United Kingdom. From your letter it appears that you do not have any claim for settlement on either of these grounds.
I do not want to give you false hope by suggesting that you submit a formal application for a visa. You may do so if you wish, but it is only fair to warn you that unless you have close personal ties with Britain the application will almost certainly be rejected.
I am sorry that I cannot be more helpful.
I am returning the photographs and other documents which you supplied in case you need them.

Yours sincerely
M B Wynburne
British Vice-Consul
