The Government fully accept the principle of family unity and the resident Vietnamese population will generate substantial numbers of family reunion cases. We shall also continue to consider sympathetically accepting refugees rescued at sea by British flagships. Regardless of any further quota, therefore, the United Kingdom will continue to make a contribution to the resettlement of Vietnamese refugees.
