EXPLOITATION OF CHILD LABOUR

Note by the Secretary-General

1, At its thirty-second session, the Sub-Commission considered the question of the exploitation of child labour. As part of the documentation submitted in connexion with this agenda item, the Sub-Commission received a number of country monographs prepared by the Anti-Slavery Society for the Protection of Human Rights, a non- governmental organization in consultative status, which had also been submitted to the Working Group on Slavery at its fifth session,

By resolution 7B (XXXII) of 5 September 1979, the Sub-Commission inter alia requested the Secretary-General "to transmit the reports on the exploitation of child labour in some countries submitted to the Sub-Commission at its thirty-sevɔnd session to the Governments concerned for information and comments".

Accordingly, the Secretary-General communicated the resolution and the reports in question to the Governments of Colombia, India, Portugal and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

4. The reply received from the Government of the United Kingdom is annexed to the present document. Any further replies will be issued in addenda hereto.
