I have been asked to reply to your letter of 10 October to the Prime Minister about possible part-time employment of nurses in Hong Kong.

I have been in touch with the Hong Kong Civil Service Branch about your proposal and find that the employment of nurses part-time in the Government Nursing Service has been under consideration by the Medical and Health Department since last March. A feasibility study has since been carried out and found no objection in principle to the idea. Detailed arrangements remain to be worked out, but it is hoped to get such a scheme underway in the near future.
