The Hon D.G. Jeaffreson, J.P.,

Secretary for Economic Services, Government Secretariat,

Central Government Offices, Lower Albert Road, Central, HONG KONG.

Dear Sir,

At our General Committee meeting on Tuesday, 25th March, serious concern was voiced over what our Members regarded as unreasonable treatment of Hong Kong by the United Kingdom.

It was decided that the Federation should go on public record and the attached press release refers.

We stress the damage done to Hong Kong's image in the eyes of our international trading partners by such action, especially after the assurances given by the British Secretary of State for Trade, Mr. John Nott, during his recent visit.

We suggest strongly that Government consider urgently taking whatever appropriate action necessary to remedy this highly undesirable circumstance, which will most certainly receive our wholehearted support.

Yours faithfully,

undesul
