Another view the CAA held is that British Caledonian's

DC 10 planes can satisfy the market butter than CPA's 747 planes. At a press conference on March 24, the British Caledonian President,

Hr Thomson, denied the allegation that DC 10 planes were unsafe.

His statement just makes people think of the DC 10 accident in 1979.

The CAA stressed that the final decision was reached in

the interests of better services. But, wise people understand that,

with one more airline joining the competition, consumers will have

one more choice. Britain should not betray the principle of free

competition mainly because of its own interests.

After all, we think that the Cathay issue is a bad example We support CPA's appeal in the hope that Britain

of discrimination,

will know how to be fair next time.
