1. Sir Paul Bryan DSO MC MP (Howden

Conservative) wrote to

Mr Blaker on 27 March enclosing a letter from Mr Adrian Swire,

Vice-Chairman of John Swire and Sons Ltd., about the Civil

Aviation Authority's decision to license British Caledonian and

not Cathay Pacific Airways as the second carrier on the London/

Hong Kong route.

2. Mr Swire and his brother, John, saw the Minister about this

matter on 4 April.

3. I recommend that Mr Blaker reply on the lines of the attached

draft.
