A number of people in Hong Kong have asked me about HMG's considera- tion of a second airport for Hong Kong and in particular whether this is likely to be situated in the People's Republic or on the island of Lantao. When I disucssed this with Norman Tebbit, he said it was a matter for your Department and I should be most grateful if it were possible for you to let me know the current state of play.
