Amend the Merchant Shipping Ordinance.

Enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice

and consent of the Legislative Council thereof.

Short title.

Amendment of

section 2.

1.

This Ordinance may be cited as the Merchant

Shipping (Amendment) Ordinance 1980.

2. Section 2 of the principal Ordinance is amended

(Cap. 281.) in the definition of "ship" by inserting before "includes"

the following

Addition of new section

50A.

(except where section 50A applies)".

3. The principal Ordinance is amended in Part VIII

by adding, before section 51, the following

Interpre- tation.

50A. In this Part, unless the

context otherwise requires

(Cap. 313.)

"certificate" and "certificate of

competency" include a certificate

of competency issued under Part IV

of the Shipping and Port Control

Ordinance;

#ship" includes every description of

vessel used in navigation."
