KMB will examine in consultation with the Commissioner and improve

the management structure in the following areas

(a) Public relations

The Public Relations section will be developed to improve information services to the public on services being operated

and on KMB's future development. The section will also ensure

and improve response to public complaints,

(An assessment of the effectiveness of the section will be made

before deciding on any major changes in its organisation.)

(b) Middle Management

KMB will consider the establishment of area manager posts to

coordinate the work of depot service managers, depot traffic

managers, and the area public relations section. This will1

be tried out initially in the New Territories, based on the

Yuen Long depot and if experience shows that this form of

decentralisation works well consideration will be given to

extending the system to the depots at Kwun Tong and Lai Chi

Kok and later on to new depots planned for Sha Tin and Kowloon

Bay. This will be subject to the availability of suitably

qualified staff.

(c) Records and accounting

KMB will continue with its programme of computerising records on staff, finance, wages, and parts by computer with on-line facilities to each depot.

(d) Radio network

KMB will continue its investigations into a more comprehensive

system of radio communication subject to the technical difficulties

with regard to reception in difficult areas being overcome.

Consultants

KMB will continue, where necessary, to employ consultants for specific task to improve the services supplied by the Company

including :-
