It is proposed to hold two meetings of the Whitehall Policy Committee at 10.30 on 8 September 1980 and 3.00pm on 16 September 1980, to be held in Room 902, Ashdown House.

I attach a timetable of events, together with an outline of the paper to be prosented to ministers before the Foreign Secretary' visit to Hong Kong and China in the autumn.

You will see that we hope to circulate a first draft of the paper in time for it to be considered at the 8 September meeting, and the final draft should be available for the 16 September meeting.
