Mr. Stones enquired whether KEC would have any objection to CLP obtaining more support from U.K. Mr. Chen stated that KEC would welcome support from U.K.

Mr. Chen expressed his personal opinion that if CLP did not participate on an equity basis, the chance of CLP participating was small and w in the Management of the Nuclear Power Station

that CLP would gain more profit by contributing equity towards the joint venutre.

ECONOMICS

Mr. D. Kaung presented comments on the items associated with economic calculations raised by KEC (Comments attached).

Mr. Chen stated that the principle of the joint venture should be

that both sides should gain and that neither side should gain more at the sacrafice of the other. Under this principle,

Mr. Chen pointed out that KEC had no intention of making money from CLP by raising the price of land and that this should be determined in such a way as to make the project beneficial to both companies. Mr. Chen mentioned that land prices were not under KEC's control and quoted two incidents for demonstration :

(a)

Xin Feng Jiang Hydro Power Station had been operating for twenty years and KEC had to spend 4 million Yuan RMB per year to move people who,

who, during the dry season, return to the uncovered land at the side of the reservoir.

Immediately after they had surveyed the site for a certain power station, they found trees planted on the site by local people who would demand should the land be acquired.
