Immigration. Apart from watching the daily figures carefully, and considering whether further representations should be made in Hong Kong, Peking or London, we need to consider whether the Governor should be encouraged to tackle the problem of legal overstayers.

Hong Kong Garrison. Again no immediate action but we need to be ready to support Hong Kong if required once the financial negotiations start. Sir P Haddon-Cave will almost certainly lead the long Kong team. We should keep in touch with 1.0D on their thinking. Are there any remaining problems on the short-term reinforcement?

Air Cervices. No action until the hearings are resumed. Farticularly when the CAA decision is given we will need to keep in close touch with DOT.
