Whilst this might be more acceptable to China,

it would probably not boost commercial confidence so well

as a post-1997 lease simpliciter even if the curbs were stated to run beyond 1997. No doubt much would depend upon who was the first tenant and what was read into this.

I must add that I am not a specialist Conveyancing Lawyer and therefore before important decisions were finalised it would be wise for me to confirm with such a specialist that I have not overlooked any problem.
