airport in Kyushu (southernmost of Japan's four main islands); drive to Unzen (National Park of great scenic beauty) and spend night there. Next day by car and ferry to Kumamoto airport and fly to Tokyo.

if arrive later on 28 September either
(a) land at Kumamoto airport; spend night in Kumamoto;
next day visit castle and drive to Mount Aso (an active volcano in an area of scenic beauty); fly from Kumamoto to Tokyo in the afternoon; or

sightseeing and/or industrial visits in Kyoto-Osaka area; fly to Tokyo late on 29 September; or
straight to Tokyo: on 29 September either
