13. TRANSPORT
This is being handled by each post being visited. All Posts have been authorised to hire, if necessary.
A full detail of transport arrangements has been requested from each Post being visited. This will be handed to members of the party on arrival at Post, with the exception of Peking where Miss Metcalfe will telegram car arrangements on arrival at Peking to the the party in Tokyo.
14 ENTERTAINMENT, CLIMATE AND CLOTHING
a) Details of entertainment have not yet been received from Posts but these are expected to be return Dinners. Black tie is not needed in Peking and Tokyo, we are awaiting information on this point from Hong Kong.
b) Liquor and cigarettes will be made available by the Embassy on a repayment basis for official entertainment, including official Press Briefings.
c) The climate in Posts varies and temperature and clothing details were given in the Advance Administrative Instructions issued on September 3. Full details of the clothing allowance payable were also given in the Advance Administrative Instructions.
15. GIFTS
Peking have advised that gifts will be required during the visit to China. These are being arranged by Conference and Visits Section, Mr D C Tolson (Telephone 233 7820), in liaison with political Departments and Private Office and these gifts must be at Room 1, Downing Street West at 1800 hours on September 23.
16. NEWSPAPERS AND COI BULLETINS
Conference and Visits Section have asked the Newspaper Publishers Association to have daily British newspapers sent out to the appropriate Posts. There may be difficulties getting papers to China
The selected daily COI bulletin will also be telexed to the appropriate Post. This must be circulated to the Delegation as quickly as possible after receipt. It is hoped that special arrangements will be made to telex bulletins to the Secretary of State whilst he is on the provincial tour within China.
17. PRESS
There will be a number of Press travelling on the RAF VC10 and Post have been asked to assist (on a repayment basis), with their accommodation and transport. Where it is possible the Press have been booked into the same Hotel as the Head of News Department.

OFFICE MACHINERY AND STATIONERY
a) Portable typewriters will be taken by secretaries for work on board the RAF VC10.
