Their market research has indicated that, of total garment exports from the colony, 40% are destined for the USA and a further 40% for Western Europe.

Their analysis of fabric market opportunities indicate basically the same fabrics as this study, except that theirs includes polyester/wool which we do not use.

They have decided to attack the higher price quality market segment, in anticipation of H.K.'s trading up to maximise their yields from static quota levels and in view of the fact that increases in labour and other costs in their present supplying countries Japan, Korea and Taiwan - are currently growing by 20-30% a year.

Possible participation by the Littlewoods Organisation

Distribute invitations to the Exhibition to our HK suppliers together with a covering letter from our M.D.

Ensure that our HK representative and/or a Buying Office representative is present at the Exhibition to introduce our suppliers and discuss prospects with them.

Prepare a small exhibition of HK imports made from the main bulk yarns and fabrics for discussion with the Mission before it leaves for HK.

Offer to ensure that, before visiting HK, our buyers preview available UK textile ranges and that they take selected samples with them with a view to incorporating them into our garment specifications.

Offer to carry out a comparison exercise between the offers shown in the American and the Mission's presentations.
