In March 1979 Balfour Beatty signed a £100 million contract with China Light and Power for the design, supply and construction of a new 400kv extra high voltage transmission line for Kowloon and the New Territories.

10 On 5 April 1978 China Light and Power awarded a contract for the first two 350mw generating sets for the Castle Peak Power Station to GEC. This was a negotiated package including BEI services, and with Babcock and Wilcox as sub-contractors.

Value £120million.

In October 1979 CLP awarded the contract for the second two 350mw units at Castle Peak to GEC/Babcocks. Value £100m.

Kowloon Electricity Supply Company (KESCO) which is jointly owned by CLP and Exxon are considering the viability of a new coal or coal/oil fired station of 2 or 4 x 660mw at Castle Peak 'B'. CLP have now engaged Kennedy and Donkin to 'vet' their draft project development report which is being prepared for submission to Exxon. Projected timing is for Contract awards May/June 1981 with the first generator in commissioning by March 1985.
