Introduction

After opening courtesies, the Chairman said that both Boards were privy to confidential data and policies and members would respect the confidentiality of anything said in the discussion. He then invited Mr. Nott to speak.

Mr. Nott explained that the purpose of his visit was to familiarise himself with the Hong Kong situation and to hear Hong Kong's views and comments on any problems that might exist between Hong Kong and the United Kingdom. Mr. Nott agreed that the discussion should proceed on the basis of questions from members.
