This is to confirm that there will be a meeting in the Chief Clerk's office (Room W33, Downing Street West) at 1500 on 6 August to discuss leases etc. Sir Percy Cradock and Lavid Wilson have also been invited to attend, and HKGL and FEL will be represented. A meeting between the attorney- General and Legal Advisers has been arranged for 1 August and John Griffiths informed accordingly.

2. Your appointment with Mr Adam Butler, Minister of State at the Department of Industry, is for 1700 that afternoon. His office is in Ashdown House, 123 Victoria Street.

3. As Mr Timothy liaison, Minister of state at the Home Office, plans to visit Hong Kong in September, we thought it might be . useful for you to see him briefly. His office have reacted positively to this suggestion and an appointment has been arranged for 1030 on 7 August.

4.

We understand that you want to sit in on some of the LCA talks; these are expected to last from 6 to 8 August. The plenary session, in which Sir Frank Cooper is expected to take part, will be on the afternoon of 7 August, probably about 1500. we have kept Friday 8 August free of any other appointments.

5. The calls on Ministers are, of course, contingent on any last minute Parliamentary business.

6.

I enclose copies of the few papers we have on the subject you will be discussing with Mr Butler.
