Dear Rob,
ANGLO/FRENCH CONSULTATIONS ON ASIA
1. Many thanks for your message by telephone that Noiville could manage either 3 November or 1 December in London for these bilateral talks.
2.
Since Murray MacLehose is likely to be passing through in the first week of November, when I believe the Secretary of State is giving him lunch on 3 November, I think it would be best to settle firmly for 1 December for the Anglo/French 'consultations. Would you confirm this with the Quai?
3. I agree that the talks should take the form of a general tour d'horizon and I do not know of any particular topics for a discussion in depth. I would like however to probe Noiville a bit on the French assessment of the situation in Cambodia. It might be fair to give him a hint of this in advance.
4. I will send to you in due course a formal agenda for the talks, Probably we shall invite in the Heads of Department - by regions as the day goes on.
5.
Does Noiville intend to bring anyone with him?
