The report recommended a crossing comprising three bridges and
associated highways and costing HK $1 billion (1979 prices).
The Hong Kong Public Works Department (PWD) has now invited the consortium to
submit further studies: they are due to report in mid 1980.
The British Trade Commission are keeping a close eye on developments.
The present airport is heavily used: it dealt with 6m passengers and 230,000
tonnes of freight in 1978.
