COLONIES : DEATH PENALTY

1. Following the Leader of the House's Business Statement

yesterday, Mr Kenneth Marks drew attention to his EDM 53 entitled Colonies: Death Penalty and asked that the Minister conducting the debate on the Anguilla Bill on Monday 15 December (Mr Ridley) make clear the Government's view on the matter. In his reply, Mr St John-Stevas promised to pass on the request, at the same time setting out the Government's policy.

2. I attach the relevant extract from Hansard (Vol 995).
