1. Mr Marks (Manchester, Gorton - Labour) has asked the
Lord Privy Seal:

a) which UK Dependent Territories retain capital
punishment for murder;
b) how many people are awaiting trial or sentence
in each colony;
c) what are the powers of HMG and the Privy Council
in such cases.
I attach a draft answer and background note which have
been cleared with the departmental Legal Adviser.
3. Mr Marks does not appear to have asked earlier Questions
about capital punishment; he voted against the restoration of
capital punishment in the 1979 debate.
