SANCTIONS AGAINST IRAN: DEPENDENT TERRITORIES

1.

The Iran (Temporary Powers) Bill (copy attached) was laid before Parliament yesterday. The Act will extend to all Dependent Territories. We, therefore, need to warn OAGs and give them suitable guidance. I attach a draft telegram which

is a shorter version of the guidance telegram sent by MED to FCO posts and which has been adapted for Dependent Territories. I should be grateful for any comments (to Miss Farrell: 233 4828) by 1200 today. Could WIAD, MED, SAMD, SPD and SED say whether they consider that the telegram could go by bag to the terri- tories for which they are responsible?
