SANCTIONS AGAINST IRAN:

1.

DEPENDENT TERRITORIES

The only dependent territories within this Department's

area are the New Hebrides and Pitcairn.

2.

As a condominium the application of sanctions by the New Hebrides would require consultation and co-ordination with the French. In view of the slightly different French policy this could be a tedious business for at best a negligible impact upon New Hebrides exports. Pitcairn is so insignificant as to be discounted. I therefore agree with the general recommendation in your draft submission that sanctions should not be applied to dependent territories.
