BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS

The Government is administered by a Governor,

assisted by an Executive Council of 4 elected Ministers

consisting and 1 official. There is a Legislative Council of a

Speaker, 9 elected members and 1 official member. The

Governor is generally required to act on the advice

of the Executive Council, save in matters relating to

defence, external affairs, internal security including

the police, the civil service and the administration

of the courts, which are reserved to HMG.

There is no local government in the territory.
