Mr. G. R. Ross, CBE, JP, Chairman,

Standing Committee on Directorate

Salaries and Conditions of Service.

27 February 1980.

Dear Rousie,

2

I do apologise for the considerable delay in getting these submissions before you. It occurred partially obviously because I wanted to get them right for, as you will see, I am worried about the future effectiveness of my Chambers, and in that context whatever you and your colleagues decide, particularly about the APCC grade and its place in the structure of my Chambers, is critical. But unfortunately a combination of successive emergencies Air Licencing, Rent Control, Civil Service Pay Disputes, Aberdeen Tunnel on top of the normal stuff conspired to stop me having the time before last Sunday to sit down undisturbed for a few hours to write it.

I do hope I'm not too late!

yous ever,

Jim

(John Griffiths Q.C.)

Attorney General
