The Public Works Department of the Hong Kong Government requires Engineers with civil, traffic or railways engineering experience, to take professional, administrative and financial control of projects within its three Divisions New Territories Development Department, Civil Engineering Office, and the Highways Office.
Depending on the Division joined, work could, for example, involve planning and constructing new towns and centres; preparing feasibility reports on major development schemes; designing, constructing and maintaining piers, seawalls and other marine structures; designing and constructing railway ter- minal buildings; investigating the adaptation of railway track systems; operating quarries; planning and designing highways and bridges; carrying out transportation studies; planning major road improve-

ment schemes; designing new road structures. Applicants must be Corporate Members of the Institution of Civil Engineers or the Institution of Municipal Engineers. Preference will be given to candidates who can speak both Cantonese and English. Appointment will be for an initial period of 2 years. The salary range for the posts is HK$6,350-HK$10,000 per month (approx. £6,800-£10,710 p.a.*). Starting salary will depend on experience.
