INSPECTION OF POD

Mr Allen, the Home Inspector, telephoned to say that following his inspection of POD, he would be recommending no change in the present arrangements whereby HKGD looks after the staffing of the Dependent Territories. However, this recommendation would be subject to two qualifications:-

a) the inspection of HKGD and FED in February/March 1981; and

consideration of integrating common services as between FCO and ÓDA.

b)

Mr Allen said that he had noticed a 1976 recommendation whereby Governors were to be able to use the facilities of Heads of Mission Section. He did not think that this had been implemented and believed it would make sense if it were. I agree d .He will minute Heads of Mission Section and HKGD accordingly and perhaps Miss Brett Rooks could liaise with the latter to see. howwe could use Heads of Mission Section to our best advantage.
