Dear Robert,
I am sorry you have not yet received a substantive reply to your letter of 25 July, about the case of your constituent, Mrs C V Penhearow.\
Since we wrote to Hong Kong in response to your letter, the Inland Revenue authorities there have reviewed their files on her late husband's tax affairs, and I understand that she will now have received a substantial additional payment from them.
We are, however, still in correspondence with the Hong Kong Government over the difficult question of whether they can compensate her for the loss she suffered as a result of the fluctuations in the exchange rate of the Hong Kong dollar. I shall write to you again as soon as I know their final decision.
yours wer
Pili.
