Annex to XCC(79)107

A BILL

To

Provide for stoppages of pay and the suspension of public

officers in certain circumstances.

Enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice

and consent of the Legislative Council thereof.

Short title and

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Public

commencement. Officers (Industrial Action) Ordinance 1979 and shall be

deemed to have come into operation on 21 November 1979.

Interpret- ation.

2. In this Ordinance, unless the context otherwise

requires

"irregular industrial action short of a strike" means any

concerted course of conduct (other than a strike)

which, in contemplation or furtherance of a trade

dispute is carried on by a group of public officers

with the intention of preventing, reducing or

otherwise interfering with the performance of duties

or the provision of services;

"place of work", in relation to a public officer,

includes any place at which he is required to be

for the purpose of performing his usual duties;

"trade dispute" means any dispute or difference between

the Government and any public officer or group or

class of public officers, or between public officers
