Dear Mrs Penhearow,

Thank you for your last letter postmarked

29 March. By now, the Crown Agents should have paid into your bank account no. 20701009 with Barclays, Bicester, the sterling equivalent of HK$28,322.93 being arrears of your late husband's salary plus an ex-gratia payment. You should also have received reimbursement of £36 travelling expenses which was the subject of earlier letters.

A sum of $4,382 is due to you for the Inland Revenue Department. If you have not yet received this, please let me have your late husband's Salaries Tax file number (it will be the same one on all tax demand notes since your husband began pay Hong Kong Salaries Tax) so that I can take it up For you with the Commissioner of Inland Revenue.

With best wishes,

4.
