(ii) In addition, all genuine residential occupiers, owners
and tenants are eligible to be rehoused by the Housing
Department.
(iii) Various special allowances are also available for
domestic owners and occupiers to minimise the
inconvenience caused by the resumption:-
(a) an ex-gratia disturbance allowance based on the
occupied floor area of the premises;
(b) a capitalised lump sum interest allowance, equivalent
the capitalised interest on the difference between
the compensation for the premises and the value of
the newly purchased property (up to a prescribed
limit);
(c) a setting-up allowance of HK$ 10,000 for each of
the owner-occupiers who buys a new domestic flat.
This is to help meet the expenses of conveyancing,
mortgage fees and stamp duty; and
(d) a rental allowance of HK$1,500 per month until the
end of 1979 for owner-occupiers whose new premises
are not ready for occupation but who have to move
out because of the clearance.
Complaints made by the owners who have so far refused compensation
5. More than three-quarters of the Sai Lau Kok buildings resident
have accepted the compensation offered. A hard core of 50 families
