The average family income is 1700. However, the average damily size is 8-9 which shows that most of them are family of low income. From the figures of the average income per head shows that the problem is ever worse for the bigger families. Their condition of poverty made them hard to afford the escalating rents of the private, as well as of public housing. Due to this economic set-back, they have fragile ability to stau onboard their smaller fragile boats.

The majority would like to move into Government (61.8% ) housing or resettled by Government housing scheme. 6.5% of the total household would like to move into private housing.

As suggested by the demand of the boat people and the reflection of the high and mounting rental and land prices of the colony. The government have to bear responsibility for the resettlemtn of these deprived boat dwellers.

From our findings showed that the majority of those hope to move into temporary housing areas and transit camos mainly theyare worry about the high rent of government housing estates. They would like to get ashore first and look for other means to overcome other awaiting problems.
