has been refused. In his letter of 15th June to Your

Petitioner's solicitors, the Director said: "I regret

that under present circumstances, their application for

permission to remain here permanently cannot be given

consideration."

9.

While Your Petitioner is aware of and appreciates

the present circumstances and difficulties in which the

Colony has found itself due to the large influx of refugees,

it is respectfully submitted that Your Petitioner's

application should be considered on its own merits and

should not be dictated by "present circumstances".

Your Petitioner is given to understand that barring

exceptional circumstances, a wife is normally allowed to

remain in the Colony with her husband who is himself a

Hong Kong resident. It is therefore respectfully

suggested that it would be unjust and unfair to refuse

Your Petitioner's application on account of "present

circumstances". The well-being of a family of 4 is at

stake.

10.

Your Petitioner therefore humbly prays that

she and her children be permitted to remain in Hong

Kong permanently.

AND Your Petitioner will ever

pray etc.

Dated the 28th day of June 1979.
